Canadian celebrities retweeting video made by Lambton College students

Former NHLer Theo Fleury has retweeted it. So has musician Emm Gryner, sportscaster John Shannon and Dragons’ Den star Michael Wekerle. All of this celebrity attention is being paid to a one-minute-and-23-second video produced by a group of Lambton College students on a mission to break the stigma surrounding mental health. Members of the college’s Jack.org chapter released the video – a moving reenactment of a student reaching out for help – on the eve of Bell Let’s Talk Day. As of Tuesday, the video has reached close to 50,000 Facebook users and clocked more than 2,700 Youtube views.

Mahon said the event presented the perfect opportunity to “make a statement to our community” about mental health, especially considering the Ontario Hockey League has recently launched its own mental health program.
