Overview – The CICMH Evaluation Capacity Program has been running since April 2018. The goal of this program is to build the evaluation capacity of front-line staff and student leaders in the post-secondary sector in Ontario. This program provides an opportunity for applicants to be partnered with an Evaluation Champion. Our Evaluation Champions are experts in program evaluation in the post secondary environment. They will provide guidance and feedback to aid in the progress of each program participant’s evaluation journey on their campus.

The 2022-2023 Evaluation Program will follow this timeline:

  • May 9, 2022: Deadline for applicants to submit their application form (see link at the top of the page)
  • May 9 – June 3, 2022: Applications to be reviewed
  • June 3, 2022: Evaluation Capacity Project Participants Finalized
  • June 6 – July 1, 2022: Initial consultation with Evaluation Champions
  • July 4 – 31, 2022: Revisions to project plans
  • August – September 2022: Launch Evaluation Project (Evaluation Stream)
  • September 2022 – March 2023: Data collection & evaluation, including meetings with champion
  • March – April 2023: Finalize year end deliverable

Available Application Streams for Evaluation Projects:

Evaluation Stream: This is the more traditional stream of the Evaluation Capacity Project Initiative. Applicants in this stream are applying to work with an Evaluation Champion to help guide an active evaluation project on their campus through the data collection phase. By the end of the year, participants will be able to analyze and summarize their campus evaluation project results.

Development Stream:  It has been identified that there is a need for projects that have a longer-term goal of becoming formal evaluations but must ensure that they have the necessary foundations in place to order to accomplish that goal. This stream invites applicants who are in the developmental stages of planning an evaluation project on their campus. The Evaluation Champion will provide guidance to ensure that all necessary components are in place in order for you to implement your desired evaluation at the end of the year.

What to expect if you are accepted to participate in the program: After being accepted, applicants will be introduced to their Evaluation Champion and an initial consultative meeting will be scheduled to review and discuss the plans for the Evaluation Project (see timeline above). The focus will be to provide more context surrounding the needs of your project, reviewing the goals for the project upon completion, and identifying possible barriers or challenges along the way. After their initial consult, revisions to the project plans can be made over the summer months to ensure that the project is ready to commence in the Fall, for those in the evaluation stream.
