OUSA Surveys Students with Disabilities

OUSA is conducting a survey of Ontario university students who self-identify as having a disability. The survey will be used to inform the content of OUSA’s Students with Disabilities Policy Paper, which will be revised in the spring of 2016.

Our goal in gathering this data is to find the most accurate and informed answers to the following questions:

What are the challenges associated with attending and graduating from university for students with disabilities?

How can these challenges be alleviated?

The spectrum of disabilities and their lived implications is hugely varied, which means that it crucial we do everything possible to learn from many different people with many different experiences. With that in mind, we hope to have survey participants that reflect this diversity: those with physical, learning, psychiatric, or other disabilities, those who have disclosed their disability to their universities, those who haven’t….in sharing your personal experiences, you help us to shape policy that is nuanced, updated, and reflective of your real needs.

So we invite you to take the survey: if you yourself do not identify as having a disability, sharing or talking about the survey with friends and peers could help spread the word. All participants’ anonymity will be respected and the information they disclose will be protected by OUSA.

Please take the survey here.
