ConnexOntario – Information about Mental Health and Addiction Services in Ontario

We sat down with Brad Davey, Executive Director from ConnexOntario to learn more about what they do and what they are all about. This is what we found out!

Connex Ontario and CICMH.

Did you know that CICMH has partnered with ConnexOntario to provide an up to date, comprehensive directory of services available. You can find here here: https://morefeetontheground.ca/

How is ConnexOntario relevant for those on campus?

ConnexOntario helps finding services easier. For example, “For Counsellors it’s very convenient for them because we cover the entire province. So, if you have a student at for example Western who is going home and they need to keep seeing somebody, the counsellor can easily contact us and they can get details about what services are in that area.” – Brad Davey

ConnexOntario also has an idea about availability. “Contact us because we not only have information about services but we also have a pretty good idea about availability… so we can give some pretty good information to a counsellor on campus about off campus stuff and I understand that the on campus staff are pretty busy.”

So, what is ConnexOntario?

Connex Ontario has a vision where everyone can access information about the healthcare and social support services they need, at the right time, and at the right place.

And how do they do this you may ask.

They provide free and confidential health services information for people experiencing problems with alcohol and drugs, mental illness and/or gambling.

They do this by maintaining a centralized, up-to-date, and accurate database of detailed drug, alcohol, problem gambling, and mental health treatment service information.

This information includes:

  • where the service is located
  • how to access the service
  • how long the wait to access the service may be

Their information and referral service is live-answer 24/7, confidential, and free.

Through the use of leading-edge technology, ConnexOntario provides hope, early help and a human voice 24-hours per day to all individuals seeking information on, for example, mental health, drug, alcohol, and gambling problems. ConnexOntario also provides data to service planners seeking access to quality health and human services information.
