Mental Health in Motion

A new team has been created at Mohawk College called Mental Health in Motion to begin a movement of wellness initiatives on campus. Events will occur various Mondays across all campuses to support the notion of a Healthy Campus community for students, faculty and staff.  The goal is to break down barriers to mental health on campus and within the community through mental illness awareness, mental health promotion, and recognition of the strength and courage of individuals.  Specialized supports including Wellness 4U Health and Counselling Services will continue to be available for all students. The Nurse Health Promoter will continue to offer a variety of health and wellness initiatives throughout the semester.

The Mission is “To build an environment that changes attitudes and behaviours while educating the Mohawk College Community on mental health. To increase awareness and break down barriers to mental health on campus”. The Vision is “Advocating, Supporting and Promoting Mental Health in the Mohawk College Mental Health Community”.

At this time we will be launching a Student Success Through Social Media project called eSuccessCoaching@MohawkCollege. This includes tweeting, blogging and creating youtube videos for students at Mohawk.
