Assessing Student Rape Myth Acceptance and Attitude Toward Intervening in Incidents of Sexual Violence

This study used the Bystander Attitude Scale-Revised and the Illinois Rape Myth Acceptance Scale, to collect data from a sample of 154 students at Nipissing University. Results showed that while the overall acceptance of rape myths was low, there may have been some confusion amongst students around the justification of a perpetrator’s actions and unsubstantiated criteria for classifying an incident as sexual.
