Every Friday of Fall and Winter terms, Laurier students can stop by the Wellness Education Centre on the Waterloo campus and collect a free piece of fresh fruit to fuel their minds and bodies. Peer Wellness Educators are available to speak with students about their wellness needs such as how to use the Student Wellness Centre and how to access counselling services. A study published in 2018 in Frontiers in Psychology found that eating raw fruits and vegetables is associated with better mental health, including lower rates of depression, and increased mood and life satisfaction. Fresh Fruit Friday is an initiative of the Student Wellness Centre’s Wellness Education team.
