This report, developed in partnership with GreenShield, explores the mental health needs of young men aged 16-29 in Canada. It examines help-seeking behaviours, coping strategies, and barriers that may prevent young men from accessing or staying engaged in support.
Findings highlight that stigma, early disengagement from care, and reliance on riskier coping behaviours (such as substance use and gambling) remain significant concerns. The report also emphasizes that experiences differ across equity-seeking groups, including racialized young men, newcomers, Indigenous young men, and 2SLGBTQIA+ youth.
Overall, the report underscores that improving mental health outcomes requires more than access alone. Services must be designed to be engaging, culturally responsive, and supportive of sustained help-seeking.
