In this webinar, we are pleased to be joined by Nicole Minutti from the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Ontario (IPC). She will discuss the privacy considerations related to the use of AI in the health sector with a focused discussion and examples for the mental health sector – especially related to mental health on post-secondary campuses. She will discuss considerations specifically related to technologies such as chatbots (including therapy bots), AI scribes, as well as the use of AI systems by care providers to provide suggested treatments.

You will leave the session with a better understanding of:

  • The role of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Ontario
  • Fundamental principles for the responsible use of AI
  • The privacy laws in Ontario related to the public sector’s use of AI systems, especially in providing health care
  • Guidance from the IPC related to the health sector’s use of AI systems, like AI scribes
  • General discussions around the risks and mitigating safeguards when students use a chatbot for mental health purposes

Nicole Minutti has been with the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Ontario for over 10 years, where she is currently leading the development of guidance related to the health sector’s use of artificial intelligence. She previously held roles in provincial government related to digital health and EHR regulation and has worked in the strategy department of a downtown Toronto hospital.

She holds a Master’s degree in Health Administration and is a PhD candidate in Health Policy at the University of Toronto, where she is studying the governance of integrated health and social care in Ontario and England.
