Faculty Module on Mental Health Awareness: Algonquin College
Student Support Services in collaboration with the Canadian Mental Health Association is excited to bring you a one hour, on line introduction to mental health awareness. We would like to invite you to participate in the training; the three – twenty minute segments including: Why are we talking about this? What do we notice? How can we help? The last segment includes a follow up which will help us assess the effectiveness of the training module.
In addition there is a Helpful Resource Section providing college and community resources, case studies and referral guidelines.
The Mental Health Commission of Canada (MHCC) conducted a six month survey on the effectiveness of “Starting the Conversation” on faculty’s mental health awareness. The results demonstrate that this program was highly successful in assisting faculty to become more aware of their role in supporting students.
